Lynn Sampson is a true Renaissance man –
actor, director, writer, musician, fundraiser.

Over the past 30 years, Lynn Sampson has developed an impressive music career in the United States and Europe.  A native of California, he founded the Baroque Brass and Ivory Duo (trumpet and piano), the William Byrd Due (tenor and lute), the Modern Jazz Duo (trumpet and guitar), the Moon and Sixpence Theater, and is currently Instructor of Music and Drama at the Grand Theater Center for the Arts in Tracy, California.  He created Music First, a non-profit dedicated to bringing live music to children and seniors. He founded the Sampson Center, which sponsors the annual Sampson Prize given to the most promising music student at his alma mater, Colorado Mesa University.

Lynn Sampson began his career as a trumpeter and was the principal with the Utah Valley Youth Symphony for two years.  Following graduation from high school, he attended the prestigious Aspen Music School.

Internationally, he has played at London’s Westminster Central Hall and at the  Cultural Center of the Serbian Consulate in Paris. He has served as principal trumpet with the Stanford University Symphony Orchestra and recently joined members of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in a benefit concert at Chicago’s Merit School of Music.

His career as a singer has been dedicated to the sacred music of the Catholic Church.  He was cantor of the Church of the Holy Name in San Francisco, music director of the Latin Mass of the Stockton Diocese in Central California, and sang with the celebrated St. Ann Chapel Choir at Stanford.

He has over 125 performances as an actor and has directed more than 15 productions.  Sampson founded Theater Without a Stage in 2008, which championed a fresh style of intimate, minimalist theater with performances in Chicago, Nashville, and Carmel.

After completing his Bachelor of Arts degree at Colorado Mesa University, where he was an early music scholar, Mr. Sampson continued his studies at the University of London receiving a Diploma in Advanced Philosophy and Psychology of Education and then studying theater with Michael Lynch at Modesto Junior College, Modesto, California.
